There is a 'hang' then the monitor blinks off momentarily, comes back, then I get the shell menu. Well, I can't place my finger on it but the "Play on my --> [primary display]" caught my attention. If I drag the movie ENTIRELY onto the secondary monitor in either MP or QT, it plays the normal color as well. Winamp won't play the movie at all unless it's entirely on the main monitor, so scrap that, it's not supposed to be for video anyways. Is there some compression setting that causes this odd behavior?

And, no, I wouldn't think that a failing monitor would cause Windows to fail to load, per se, but I wouldn't be at all surprised that a failing adaptor or memory issue caused it. My Windows has failed to load recently simply because a SCSI printer card management program would fail to install, and it kept trying,

There is a 'hang' then the monitor blinks off momentarily, comes back, then I get the shell menu. The system is trying to change the video mode and is not succeeding, I suspect. OK, so the odds are low either way, but changing low odds to slightly higher low odds doesn't seem a sensible course. I suspect the USA's real motivation was to minimise the chance of security sensitive hardware making it down in recognisable form. The safety issue was just a pretext. Sylvia.
